Our Background
Since 1960 the Scarborough branch of the Canadian Federation of University Women has been active in promoting women's rights and education in Scarborough.
Why Do We Exist?
We were founded in 1919 after the First World War by women
graduates from Canada, Great Britain and the United States to promote international
friendship, cooperation and peace. Today, we are committed to
- education to influence and benefit society;
- the right of women and girls to education in order to reach their full
potential;
- the recognition and protection of human rights;
- the promotion of peace, justice and equality;
- the development of international understanding, co-operation and friendship.
What Is Our Mission?
As part of a national and international organization our purpose is to:
- pursue knowledge
- promote education
- improve the status of women and human rights
- participate actively in public affairs
We welcome any woman who supports our goals.
New members are always welcome.
Award Fund
The Award Fund was established in 1975 for the purpose of providing Awards to students of Grade XIII with second class standing or better, who enrolled in any accredited Canadian University or affiliated college in a course leading to a recognized university degree. Since amalgamation of the Metro School Boards, we now make our selection of candidates
with the help of the University of Toronto Scarborough Campus.
Three scholarships are available. Check for further information by clicking on the Scholarships button.
The finance of this fund depends upon the generosity of members and the public at large through individual donations and from fundraisers . If you would like more information on how you can support educational excellence by making a donation, memorial or otherwise (tax receipts are available). Please contact us
