General Meeting Minutes

October 2025

Date: October 20, 2025

Time: 7:30 p.m.

Place: Knox Christian Centre (Knox United Church), Scarborough

Number in attendance: 45

President Beth Raymer read the Land Acknowledgement and welcomed members and guests.

The minutes of the September meeting were approved. Moved by Corona Liscio, seconded by Lenora Fleming.  Beverley Rhodes stated that if the minutes have already been approved by the Executive, there was no need to pass them at the meeting.

Helen McCubbin introduced Andrea Charise, UTSC Associate Professor, who presented on her research into the connection between arts, health, communication, and wellness. She described “stories that travel” between generations; those stories are going digital. Andrea shared a story of her grandmother and the stories of two students. She asked members to think of a story from a past generation and to think of a sensory memory that they would want the listener to carry across generations. Members asked if intergenerational stories are helpful to those with dementia, and the possibility of workshops.

Elizabeth Ritchie thanked Andrea Charise and reminded us to reflect upon our own journeys.

Ruth Wolff asked members to sign up for purchasing items for the Christmas gift bags for Juliette's or to make a financial contribution, if preferred, for same. Beth Raymer invited members to sign up.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:45, followed by a delicious cake to celebrate CFUW Scarborough’s 65th anniversary.

The next general meeting is scheduled for November 17th at 7:30 p.m., with social time starting at 7 p.m.
