Beth Raymer welcomed members to the meeting and read the Land Acknowledgement.

 

The minutes from the November meeting have been reviewed and approved.

 

Business:

• Advocacy Minute: Helen McCubbin updated the members about the letters sent to MPPs and MPs. Helen and Anita DesRosiers and met with Salma Zahid one of the local MPs about GBV and the National Action Plan, the progress made and future actions. Thank you to members for signing the letters. They do have an impact.

• Treasurer’s Report: The balance is approximately $ 9872.55. Outgoing - Insurance has been paid to National.

• Social Committee (Rosemary Dennis & Mariko Liliefeldt): The committee has been discussing locations for the May dinner. The event will be held at Bluffers’ Park Restaurant on May 12.

• The Mad Hatter's Tea Party is scheduled for May 3, 2025 at St. Dunstan of Canterbury church from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Sign-up sheets will be available at the March meeting. Help is required in several areas, from publicity to baking to ticket sales. Please contact Beth directly if you can assist before the March meeting.

• The website requires a working group – any expertise will be greatly welcome. Please contact Beth.

• The Out-to-Lunch Bunch is scheduled to meet on January 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Taylor’s Landing at The Shops at Don Mills. Please contact Helen if you plan to attend.

• The nominating committee for next year’s executive needs to begin its work. The committee has three members who meet to approach possible candidates for the next year’s executive. Please contact Beth if you can help.

The Business portion of the meeting was concluded at 7:45 p.m.

Rosemary Dennis introduced Richard Fiennes-Clinton from Muddy York Tours to speak on Toronto in the 1950s. Beth thanked Richard for an informative and interesting presentation.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.

The next meeting will take place in February 2025 via Zoom.
