TREASURER’S REPORT: Rosemary Dennis and Jean Patton have been working to computerize our bank records to submit to Toby Tenenbaum for review.   The current bank balance is $7,383.20.

PROGRAM: The following programs are planned for 2025-26:

  • September - Organizational [General] Meeting to discuss plans for the year and revitalization of the Club. Doreen Dickson has given a seating floor plan for the tables and chairs to be arranged for breakout group discussion of the previously distributed member survey.  Beth Raymer moved that we increase our rent paid to the Church from $200.00/year to $500.00/year and the  set-up for the charge paid to the caretaker to $35.00/meeting. Motion seconded by Rosemary Dennis. Carried. The honorarium for speakers this year will increase from $200.00 to $225.00.

  • October – OPEN HOUSE AND GUEST NIGHT - UTSC Professor Andrea Chaise will speak about her field of Generational Health, Story Telling and Art. Carolyn Beard will ask the Interest Group convenors to come early to set up information tables. Flyers with a list of speakers for the year should be available to hand out. Jean Witherspoon and Rosemary Dennis will handle refreshments. Corona Liscio will look into a cake at Costco to celebrate our 65th Anniversary.

  • November - Dianne Scott will speak about the Indigenous History of the Toronto Islands. She is the author of 4 books and will raffle one off. Helen McCubbin will encourage her to bring others for sale.

  • December – Christmas Party – Rosemary Dennis will ask for someone to host.

  • January – No speaker currently confirmed. Beth Raymer has offered to speak about a Solidarity Pilgrimage to Palestine.

  • February - Advocacy Speaker – the Advocacy group will meet next Wednesday to discuss Speaker possibilities.

  • March – Helen McCubbin has 2 potential speakers TBD.

  • April – Advocacy Speaker

  • May Dinner – MPP Andrea Hazel is a possibility for the speaker. Helen McCubbin will also investigate someone who talks about Nellie McClung who spoke at the Leaside Club. Members will be encouraged to invite guests. Rosemary Dennis will look into Tam Heather Curling and Tennis Club and Scarborough Golf and Country Club as potential venues. We could possibly consider moving to a Wednesday night to have more options of places closed on Mondays. The Golf Club has a prix fixe luncheon menu we could ask about for dinner to save on costs.

WEBSITE:

  • Valerie MacLean could use Instagram and our website to publicize bios of upcoming speakers and Club events. We will try to add more pictures of activities as well. Beth Raymer will see if Jennifer Morrison can help finish the website format. We should pay her an honorarium if this is possible.

  • We will cancel our X account and maintain our Instagram and Facebook accounts.

FUNDRAISING:

  • The Tea Party was very successful and should be done again this year. The refreshments were delicious, and the raffle and trivia quizzes were especially popular. We should do more to promote the Club – perhaps have a regional director or Ontario Council member speak about the historical contributions of CFUW. We need more workers, since Rosemary Dennis did a majority of the organization and work for running the event. For those members who cannot be involved we should make direct donations to UTSC or Centennial College easy to do on the website.

  • We will look into the halls at Guildwood Presbyterian and St. Thomas More churches as possible venues for this year.

NEWSLETTER: Helen McCubbin will try to do a newsletter for December and May.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, November 10th at 7:00 P.M.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 P.M.

Respectfully submitted by Kathie Krashinsky
